Bentley is already looking at different designs in the ways that some luxury car dealers already have. But Bentley is Bentley – and people loved them for what they were, so if they were going to make changes, they were going to do it slowly. On their terms and in the best way possible. They want to have something they like and something that customers can be proud to own. They’ve finally decided upon the final designs for the Bentley SUV – the Bentayga. But now they might take things a step further.
At the Shanghai show, Bentley’s CEO Wolfgang Dürheimer made positive remarks when the concept of a Bentayga coupe design – or even a convertible SUV – was made. Essentially, he didn’t see why not, stating that “The SUV segment offers a lot of possibilities for derivatives.” The interesting part is that he acknowledges that it’s also an area that isn’t exactly explored –by anyone. He even went so far as to state that he’s built one in the past, but didn’t let on who he built it for. At the time, it was decided that it wouldn’t be explored further. Now, given the popularity of the SUV market, he agrees that this may be the time to take things to the next level. In the interview, he mentioned that “[…] the SUV segment has so much potential worldwide. People are looking for new ideas, eye-catchers.”
So it’s entirely possible that in a future auto show we may see a Bentley SUV in coupe or convertible format. Who knows? Perhaps they’ll be the first to explore the concept – and explode the market.
Until then, you can explore the possibilities of Bentley at the Braman Bentley dealership, part of the Braman Motorcars family, in Florida. With plenty of sunshine, open roads, and beaches waiting to be visited, a Bentley at your fingertips sounds like the perfect idea.
