The Bentley EXP 100 GT concept vehicle has been much anticipated, and when it was revealed in late August of this year, it certainly didn’t disappoint any viewer. A one-off concept vehicle, it suggested the future of this brand would be nothing short of powerful and stunning.
Like any Bentley, the experience began with the first glance. The front fascia makes a serious impression comprised of a large mesh grilled with 6,000 LED bulbs. Streamlined rounded beveled headlights echo the more traditional Bentley look but clearly foreshadow the future of this brand.
The echoes, though, don’t stop there, as the hood-mounted Flying B remains. Inspired by the iconic Continental, it includes a svelte roof line that slopes beautifully into the rear. You may also notice copper and silver accents on the window surrounds and windshield. With thick spoke wheels and a silver roof, this Bentley is a show stopper, and it’s just as imposing as any other model, coming in at 19 feet in length and 7.8 feet in width. Despite added aluminum and carbon fiber bodywork, it still weighs 4,188 pounds.
Under the hood is the one thing that had so many people talking – a 1,106 lb-ft battery-electric power train that can move it from zero to 60 in 2.5 miles per hour. It hits its top speed at 186 miles per hour. Despite that fact, though, you can expect a range of 435 miles on a given charge, and the brand suggests that it can regain 80% of that power in fifteen minutes thanks to a faster than average charge option.
Driving isn’t even required with the EXP 100 GT. Bentley included an AI personal assistant in the middle of the center console with five autonomous driving modes. Choose the “Enhance” mode to draw input from the outside of the vehicle. Choose “Cocoon” to block others from seeing who is inside the vehicle. With the “Re-Live” moment, you can see your past journeys. The final option – “Customize” – offers a combination of the other four modes, but it can be shifted to better meet the needs of the passengers. All of them, though, mean one amazing ride where you sit back and enjoy the plush leather, reclaimed wood, and wool interior, all of which come from sustainable sources.
Luxury electric cars are about to be a reality, and you can be sure Bentley will be at the front of the pack.
