Bentley just released the Flying Spur Hybrid, which experts say is the most efficient and cleanest model in Bentley’s history. For environmentally-conscious clients, the plug-in hybrid V6 powertrain will offer an alternative to the V8 and W12 engines.
LITHIUM-ION BATTERY
The Flying Spur Hybrid will be powered by a lithium-ion battery that can be charged to 90-100 percent in less than 2.5 hours. The powerful electronics will transform the energy warehoused from the battery to enhance the existing 12V electrical organization or charge the E-motor. While the combined range with a fully charged battery and a full tank offers 500 miles, the driving range on the E-battery is only 26 miles.
MOST EFFICIENT BENTLEY EVER
Based on Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP), the average carbon dioxide emissions were only 75g/km, which is a superb achievement for Bentley. In addition, the carbon dioxide emission is much less than other hybrids. Indeed, the new hybrid model of the Flying Spur is the most efficient Bentley ever.
ENGINE AND POWER
The Flying Spur Hybrid plug-in has a 2.9 liter V6 combustible engine and a single electric motor that offers a combined output of 536 HP. Despite its enormous weight, the Flying Spur can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds.
INTERIOR/EXTERIOR
Like other trims of the Flying Spur, the hybrid is available in many exterior colors, plus extra personalization options by Mulliner. The interior also offers more than a dozen leather tones, eight different veneers, 3D leather door panels, diamond quilting, and several other bespoke details, like emblems and stitching.
AVAILABLE IN THE UNITED KINGDOM AND EUROPE
With certification secured, the Flying Spur Hybrid is now available both in Europe and the UK; the company is hoping to make the hybrid available in other nations soon.
PHEV TREATMENT
After the Bentayga, the Bentley Flying Spur is the second model to get the PHEV treatment. This means that Bentley’s battery can be recharged by plugging a charging cable into an external electric power source, in addition to internally charging using the onboard combustion engine power generator. Bentley is planning on expanding the PHEV treatment to its entire model range within the next two years. Starting in 2025, Bentley will introduce its first five fully electric models and hopefully will be all electric by 2030.
NOT COMPROMISING PERFORMANCE OR LUXURY
Despite the entry into a plug-in hybrid, Bentley has shown that this innovation has not compromised the car’s performance or luxury. The presence of an advanced E-motor and a highly efficient engine delivers the same reliability and functionality of other Bentley cars.
The starting price of the Flying Spur Hybrid is around $210,000, but the price will increase after you add in the accessories and other options. Now that the hybrid Flying Spur is the most efficient Bentley ever, we’ll see what comes next. For more information, visit Braman Motorcars and/or call them at 1-561-926-9111.
