If the Continental GT Number 9 Edition at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year wasn’t enough, the Bentley Mulliner division has something very different from other Bentley models to offer consumers. While details are a little light at this point, what isn’t likely to be quite as light is the price tag. It’s already been labeled as $1.3 million.
A Small Production Run
An Autocar exclusive suggested the upcoming Bentley Mulliner will be incredibly exclusive, as likely only ten customers will get the initial production run of this vehicle, according to Bentley’s design director Stefan Sielaff.
Many industry experts believe the vehicle will be based around the Mulsanne or even the Bentayga given the fact that the year has already managed to produce one project based on the Continental. Most also believe a large V8 engine will be under the hood of this super-secret project.
The simple reality, though, is that no one knows what this vehicle might include, and it’s not scheduled for release until much later in the year, so experts will have to continue guessing.
It’s Not Just Bentley
It’s not just Bentley Mulliner driving this industry trend. Other brands have recently worked with the idea. The Bugatti La Voiture Noire was a one-off run that was the single most expensive new car ever sold. The total on that sale was $18.9 million. Ferrari introduced its Tailor Made program in 2011, and it meant bespoke vehicles for individuals. It included an individual designer for every client who could help owners decide on exterior colors, cabin trim, and much more for three different models: Scuderia, Classica, and Inedita.
This Bentley Mulliner certainly won’t be alone in the world of exclusive cars, as other brands are likely to add their own models to this party. But Bentley has a way of leading the competition – and delivering world class exclusivity, refinement, elegance, and power.
