Why the Mulliner Speed Six Is Famous
Its 6.5-liter engine made the Bentley Speed Six variant a renowned racing Bentley. This model won both the 1929 and 1930 Le Mans races. Bentley said this vehicle was an upgraded version of their 6.5-liter Bentley from 1926. 1928 saw the introduction of the significantly sportier Speed Six chassis. According to Bentley, the racing version featured a 3,353 mm wheelbase and a refined engine with a 6.1:1 compression ratio and 200 bhp. The manufacturer also tweaked the engine to produce extra power. With the addition of dual SU carburetors, a higher compression ratio, and a high-performance camshaft, its output increased to 180 bhp.
