One to Look Forward to: Bentley Bentayga Update

The luxury world is keeping a keen eye on the emergence of a new Bentley SUV.  Expected by 2016, the Bentley Bentayga has entered its final stage of testing and will debut at a motor show (as yet unnamed) later this year.  The concept has been developed for the past two years, with various design changes along the way.  Here is what you can expect from this new model.

Bentley’s designers believe this model represents the best in automotive luxury and performance as befits newer environments.  The name is a reflection of several words, including the world’s largest snow forest and a rocky mountain in the Canary Islands, indicating the philosophy that Bentley plans to pursue with this model.  The design is still reflective of the EXP 9 F from 2012 previews, but the front end now includes the Continental GT appearance, a hallmark feature of a Bentley.  It will also be the first Bentley to represent a gas-electric hybrid motor and predictions indicate that Bentley is also experimenting with a diesel as well.

This is forward thinking on the part of Bentley, as some of the top cities across the globe where Bentleys are most sold have impending zero-emissions legislation, so a plug-in hybrid engine that can travel for 30 miles on battery power alone will be key for many who want the luxury of a Bentley but live in urban environments.  Expect the model to deliver a top speed of 200 miles per hour with the aid of other aerodynamic features.  This will be a moving target as well, meaning that future SUV designs will evolve to meet other specifications.  The Bentley Bentayga is poised to be one of the most revolutionary models to hit luxury car dealers in a long time.
