Introducing a Tweed Top Bentley Convertible

Bentley Convertible

For those who love heritage and classic beauty – that also manages to be urbane and contemporary – the 2020 Bentley Convertible offers a gorgeous tweed top. Colour and Trim designer, Cathy Bass, says, “We wanted to create something that hadn’t been done before and we had never seen a tweed effect hood. We felt confident that tailoring and heritage fabrics would become a significant trend with longevity, and we decided that was the right direction to pursue.” We would have to agree!

As Bass explains, her team when through an extensive archive of materials but found that the “perfect” fabric – tweed – wasn’t the right fit for the Continental GTC. So, they worked to create the classic look and feel while meeting today’s engineering and technical standards. A perfect example of how this venerable brand effortlessly fuses the classic and the contemporary.

The team went through endless “trials” as they dyed threads to achieve the perfect balance of dark beige and cream and a fabric composition that met their specs.

When it comes to Bentley options, there is no limit, no restrictions. Custom and bespoke features allow owners to fully realize their vision. The Tweed top offers a unique look that perfectly complements the brand’s endless suite of paint, veneer, and “lifestyle” options. The standard palette has 17 exterior paint colors, while the extended range boasts 45. There are 15 carpet options, 8 handcrafted veneer options (and four dual veneer options), and 15 choices of interior trim hide. For the Convertible, there are seven exterior roof colors, including the Tweed specification.

Each roof, regardless of color, has the innovative Z-fold roof system and deploys or stows in just 19 seconds. The 2020 Bentley Continental GTC also includes system improvements for a significant reduction in noise levels at cruising speeds.

The tweed top exemplifies Bentley’s pursuit of perfection – and their track record of success in achieving it.
